Recently I was reading a blog on www.tenthdimension.com by the author Rob Bryanton on how different senses are translated into electrical signals in the brain and the brain would have no idea if we send a wrong signal to it. How many times have you faked it to your own brain. If there is a fruit say Mango and you try to recall what its smell you can actually smell it. This is stronger with sense of touch. A lot of people have always been wondering why some tunes are catchy or why some paintings appeal to the eyes. The modern day computer also functions in a similar way as our brain. The image sensor acts as eyes and the microphone as ears. But for the CPU they are just mere electrical signals or even better binary files. So I decided to do a small experiment and took a song which I know I love and convert it into a painting and vice versa using Matlab. I will shortly add the results but this does tell us that we can translate senses from one sense to another. In a way I heard the painting and I saw the song.

I thought of this idea long back in 3rd year of my undergrad days and thought it was really revolutionary. The idea struck in a digital communication class where my Digital Communications teacher Prof. Gandhi was teaching us the basics of information theory. I thought if we can send data why not power. Cell phones were the latest craze then and I thought I will earn millions if I am able to solve the problem of short battery life. I conveniently did not read anything about it online, well anything  which would tell me this was already done. I wanted to think about it without any sources, which was stupid of course. Later I realised that the great Tesla did this decades ago and lately has been commercialized by a company http://www.ecoupled.com/. This did shatter my dreams but there were other ideas out there and range is still a big big issue when it comes to wireless power. I mean why would someone buy an expensive desk when I can just plug right into an inexpensive desk. I have not yet thought further in this matter but this keeps intriguing me.
